First 2 months...

In an effort to catch up on Scarlett's first 2 months of life, I picked some of my favorite pics to post. A few stats below:

-She has her daddy's pinched ears (adorable!) and big waved top lip
-Looks like she got mommy's dimples. At least on her right cheek for sure.
-She has long hands and feet. Grandma C says she will be a great piano player ;)
-Baby girl started holding her own head up (a little wobbly) at 4 days old!
-She started pushing up with her feet at 1 week. A strong little thing!
-She has been a very alert baby since day one. When she's awake, eyes wide open!
-She started smiling in her sleep at 1 week
-Started smiling in her sleep at 2 weeks
-Actual awake smiles at 6 weeks. I was so nervous because it seemed like cousin Pasiley and other babies were so smiley before Scarlett. I thought maybe she was a really serious baby, then one day she gave us a big smile! It was when her grandma Peterson was holding her. Since then, we get lots of smiles. This makes mommy and daddy so happy, every time!
-She is not lady like in the tooting department. Loud, long and lots...
-She loves to cuddle! So much so, she can hardly be set down ;). I'm not complaining though. Mommy loves waking up to morning cuddles! Sleeping with us is going to be a hard habit to kick...
-Her favorite music so far is Chopin, Mozart and Seal. Well those artist tend to calm her down!
-Her favorite song that mommy and daddy sing to her is "Bushel and a Peck" by Dorris Day. She smiles when we make fools of ourselves and sing this to her as animated as possible.
-She is a daddy's girl already. Those two are such buddies already. She already has him wrapped around her little finger ;).
-She coo's on and off all day long. It's adorable! The first time I heard it, I couldn't believe that sweet noise came from her. I was so excited.
-She is so loved! And not just by mommy and daddy. Her aunts and Uncles love to smother her with kisses. She has the most loving grandparents on both sides. And at one point there were 13 people in our hospital room just to see her. I wonder if she will be spoiled?
-At first almost everyone told us she looked like her daddy. Now most people says she is a good combo of both of us.

She was so skinny, but has finally started filling out and chubbing up! We have so much fun watching her do new little things everyday. Seeing how much she has changed and grown in the past two months is both fun and scary! We love our little girl so much and look forward to all the years ahead:).

5 generations. In the middle are Scott's great grandparents. Scarlett's great, great grandparents! This was at his great grandpa's 100th birthday up in Grace, ID. 6 weeks.

Introducing Scarlett Antoinette Peterson

December 4th 2011 was the day we received the most beautiful little gift we could have imagined. People always say "love at first sight" when they describe the moment they first saw their baby. I always thought that was so cliche. Turns out every baby cliche I've heard is exactly how I've felt! Scott and I both are beyond obsessed with this little girl.
It was an unusually dry December, almost no snow. My dad was in town (he stayed after Summer and Eldis's wedding the week before) to wait for his newest granddaughter's arrival. We were six days away from my actual due date and I couldn't believe I lasted that long! I'd been dilated at a 3 for over a week. Effaced (yes a lot of detail here) 80% for over 2 weeks. Contracting almost daily for about a month! After Summer's wedding, I did all that I could to get her out. Every suggestion and remedy out there, I tried. Then as we were getting ready for church on the morning of December 4th, I went into labor.
I was standing at the sink in bathroom finishing up my make up. We were going to be late for church, so I was in a hurry when I realized I was dripping.. Like I said, lots of detail. I yelled for Scott across the hall, and he came rushing in excited when he realized my water broke! Interesting fact; Only 20% of labors start with a natural water break. My dad called up to say he was going to start walking to the chapel and we told him to throw our bags in the car, hospital time! He wished us off to get checked in and started while he made the arrangements to get my mom on the next flight from Sacramento to SLC.
We got to the check in desk at the hospital when I went from a leaky faucet, to a small waterfall! I sat in the hospital bed with Scott watching movies for next few hours. We looked outside to see the most beautiful snow fall. After a while, the pain kicked in and my epidural did not.. I was awful! I have so much respect for women who do it natural.. Not my thing! Pretty soon I was screaming in pain and squeezing Scott as hard as I could. The nurses told us it would take a few minutes before it kicked in, but after 30 mins of the worst pain I had ever felt, Scott insisted the get the anesthesiologist back to us. 15 minutes later, I felt great. My mom made it just in time, my sisters were there, my in laws and Lauren in the waiting room (minus Brittany who was in the delivery room with us), and it was time for some trial pushing. I practiced about 2 times and they called the Doc in. With the doctor there, I pushed for about 10 minutes, and she came right out! Yes, it was a fairly easy delivery. I felt very blessed.
She's now almost 8 weeks. I can honestly say it's been the best 8 weeks of our lives. Yes, lots of sleep lost, TONS of poopy diapers, literally every day I end up with dry milk all over my clothes, but I could not be happier about it! Here are a few hospital pics.

Baby Paisley

Have you met this chubby ball of adorableness?? This is my beautiful niece, Paisley Aleta Smith. She is probably the sweetest baby there ever was! Seriously, such a good babe. She is a great little eater (explains the luscious thighs!), a terrific little sleeper, and an AWESOME snuggle buddy. She makes me so excited (and anxious) for my little girl to come :), who by the way, is such a tease. Totally thought I wasn't going to make it to Summer's wedding because of all the contractions, and now that the wedding is over... Nothing! Anyways, just wanted to share a couple pics of the newest family babe.

Sunday night was awesome. We decided that since our baby will be here soon, we had better get the Christmas stuff out. In reality, I always want to jump the gun for Christmas! But it sounded like a legitimate excuse, right? Anyways, we put on good old fashioned Christmas tunes, made pizza, opened up a bottle of sparkling cider and put up our few decorations :). It was fun, cozy and romantic. We won't be getting much alone time for a while, it felt perfect. After decorating we cuddled up to the fire and started a Christmas movie. The animated "Christmas Carol" is scary! Seriously, such a dark Disney movie. I made Scott change it, because it didn't feel Christmasy at all. So we watched last year's Glee Christmas episode. Good music, dumb show. Anyways, it was a perfect night. I love that husband of mine so much. Nothing is more fun than just hanging out, just the two of us. We have such a fun and goofy time. Couldn't pick a better best friend :)

37.5 Weeks... Almost there!

Super embarrassed about how messy our room is. But I thought this could be one of the last pics I take before she comes. My doc thinks she will be here early (80% effaced, dilated 1.5 cm... Sorry, gross.), so I snapped this last night. Super glam, right? Just trying to make sure she stays in through this weekend. Summer and Eldis get married on Sat! So excited for them :).
